CBE Communication
The CBE sent out communication this afternoon (Feb 7) and it’s safe to say it is misleading. Yes we did secure those wins in the last contract, but we are bargaining a new contract and don’t we deserve more in this contract also?
If the CBE would like to discuss history, why are they not mentioning:
2016 0%
2017 0%
2018 0%
2019 0%
2020 0%
2021 0%
2022 0%
We could also talk about the 5% rollback in the 90s that we received, that the CBE promised we would get back once the province restored funding. The CBE received that 5%, but they did not give it back to us as they had promised.
Over the 4 years at 3/3/2/2, the average is $2.97 per hour. For the maintenance group, the average increase over the 4 years would be $3.32 per hour. This would keep many of us under the current cost of living, how far below the poverty line will be in 4 years? A provincial government that has seen a surplus of over 20 Billion dollars can afford to pay education employees a living wage.
